we start the weekend with news of a rape in one of baltimore's most popular neighborhoods. the very latest, coming up. we are keeping an eye on a new potential nor'easter. marion has the details. beachmont is one of the 10 places to avoid if you don't want to break your smart phone. our top story has women thinking twice about running alone. police say a woman out for her morning run was raped early this morning. the suspect got away. abc news's cheryl connor join us with the very latest. >> reporter: last check police do not have a suspect. going into the weekend a rapist is on the loose following an incident in one of baltimore's most popular neighborhoods.

it is crowned one of america's top neighborhoods just last month. the american planning association pointed out this stunning view of the inner harbor. now, there is stunning news. >> there had been another tv crew back there. there was a woman who stopped me and said oh, did you hear about what happened. i hadn't, so she said there was an incident this morning. >> jacqueline lives here and runs several times a week, often alone. >> i probably have to go to the gym more often and go outside less. >> city police say a woman in her 20s was out running when a man armed with a knife pulled her into a dark area and raped her. detectives aren't giving the exact location, just that it happened here. >> the good news is there was a lot of surveillance in that area. a lot of businesses, residents that have surveillance, so detectives have a lot of foot

and to come through to possibly identify an attacker. >> the neighborhood association says after the details were posted online a picture of the man popped up with multiple comments. >> we are being told by area residents he is going to up knocking on people's doors telling them that he just moved into the neighborhood with his aunt and uncle. he's asking for money. >> that suspicion was forwarded to the police department as detectives worked tide if -- identity a suspect. >> go with a running buddy instead of going by yourself. >> reporter: going with a buddy is what police suggest. detectives are working around the victim's time and emotions when she is ready to go back to the scene. they may be able to collect more evidence. suspect is an adult male armed with a knife and possibly

as we go toward midday tomorrow i think we will crack 50 degrees with some sun. we will talk about how things will shape up into the rest of the week, coming up. we have all seen the video and pictures of the aftermath of hurricane sandy. from new jersey to new york city in the north to right here in maryland and garrett county. damage from wind, water and snow is causing huge problems and upsetting many lives. areas that were spared got hit the hardest here in maryland. threefeet of snow block roads and trapping people in their homes. the county put out calls for help. many answered. >> we were prepared both internally and with external assets to be prepared for a direct hit. blessing is we did not receive that. now we are able to use some of our own resources to help

others. >> baltimore city sent ems crews to new jersey. the crews handled more than 40 calls in just 12 hours. a few hours up 95 tonight millions of people are still without electricity and heat. at least 105 deaths are being blamed on hurricane sandy. the storm is forcing the city to break with tradition in solidarity. >> hurricane sandy has claimed another casualty. the new york city marathon has been canceled. >> it was clear this was not going to be a celebration of new york. it was going to be a difficult day instead oaf a day of celebration. >> some were outraged at the lavish provisions for the race. >> in good conscious i did not think i could rent. >> including cases of vodka and huge electric generators. >> how many hopes do you think

plate numbers. brandy hit, ab c news new york. busch will start to can water. they expect to make more than a millions can. a man wanted in maryland was arrested yesterday. he is from hagerstown. he is charged with child pornography. he was featured on america's most wanted. a man is charged with arson. a neighbor reported the fire. firefighters had to rescue him from the basement. they say he start the fire on the first floor of the deck. a man who was allegedly trying to break into a car is recovering after he was shot by a security guard. it happened in a parking garage. wounded man was approached by a security guard. authorities say there was a confrontation. the guard then shot the man in the leg. city police detectives say they
